We commemorate International Days that are related to our areas of focus and intervention by organizing awareness campaign workshops on different social issues to commemorate such International Days.

Capacity Building Workshop for Youth

Thematic Areas were on:
• Human Rights
• The Danger of Substance Abuse
• Leadership
• ICT & Climate Change
The workshop was organized by Unique Foundation in collaboration with Victory Foundation and St Peter’s Senior Secondary School Peace Club. It was a one day training workshop on the 11th of May, 2019. The workshop was held at ST. Peter’s Senior Secondary School. It was meant to build the capacity of young people to become responsible adults who will positively contribute towards national development and the achievement of the National Development Agenda. The event brought together 65 participants including students, youth activists, environmentalists, teachers and Human rights activists.

Youth Business Entrepreneurship Training Workshop

This was another one day workshop organized by Unique Foundation The Gambia on 01 June 2019. The workshop brought together over 70 young people from different communities and schools, students and non-students, entrepreneurs and petty traders at the organization project center ‘Unique Foundation Learning and Resource Center’ in Chupe Town Dippakunda, The Gambia. The workshop thematic Areas are:
• How to start and grow a business
• Where and how to source for startup capital
• Types of Businesses available for young people
The overall aims of the workshop include:
• To motivate and transform youths into employers of labor
• To influence young people on the need to take up entrepreneurship as a career
• To help youths to identify and exploit business opportunities and access to startup capital especially the unemployed youths.

The Role of Young People in Achieving the National Development Plan. “Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want”.

This was a one day workshop organized by Unique Foundation The Gambia to commemorates the Africa Unity Day on May 25 2019. The workshop brought together more than 50 participants including students, youth activists, education advocates from youth organizations, community-based organizations, and civil societies, teachers and Human rights activists.

 

It was meant to build the capacity of young people to become responsible adults who will positively contribute towards national development and the achievement of the National Development Agenda. The event brought together 65 participants including students, youth activists, environmentalists, teachers and Human rights activists. AFRICA UNITY DAY

International Youth Day

The Fourth Industrial Revolution. How prepared and ready are we?

This event was to commemorate the International Youth Day (IYD) 2019, “Transforming Education” which highlights efforts to make education more inclusive and accessible for all youth, including efforts by youth themselves. Rooted in Goal 4 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This event was held in conjunction with Stratford College of Management, The Gambia,  under the theme “The Fourth Industrial Revolution. How Prepared and Ready are We?”

The event was held at Stratford College of management campus. It looked at:

Training Workshop on Gender-based Violence, Leadership and Sexual Health and Right

The event brought together more than 80 participants, mostly young people between ages 18 to 30 years.

Resource persons for the training workshop, including:

The Director General of Gambia National Library Service Authority; The program manager, National Youth Council – The Gambia; Social Work Program Coordinator/Lecturer SOS – RMATC; The program manager Gambia Family Planning Association; The Police – Child Protection Unit; The Program Manager Think Young Women; U.S. Exchange Program Alumni and others to speaks who speak on the theme of the workshop: Gender-based Violence, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Right and Leadership at the American Corner in Kairaba Avenue.

The purpose of this workshop #YALILEARNS is to honor the legacy of Nelson Mandela. Throughout his life, Nelson Mandela worked tirelessly to strengthen his community, his country, and Africa as a whole.

The main aims of this event are to:

  1. help young people gain the skills and knowledge necessary for them to lead civic engagement and community organizing activities,
  2. Enhance the knowledge, skill and attitude of youth & adolescents on sexual and reproductive health and
  3. to educate young people on the different forms of gender-based violence, methods that can be used to prevent it and support that is available for victims.
